I can’t tell you how excited we are to be a part of such an exciting new feature on the AOL Money and Finance site!
While our business mainly deals with life insurance, we will explore many different points-of-view on the topics of life insurance, annuities, disability, long-term care and more! We’ll also have experts that can comment on other types of insurance products such as auto and home – policies that I’m not familiar with other than the fact that I own them on my own home and car. This applaud-able, this shows that you care for your clients and intend to make sure they get the coverage they need.

Can I get a life insurance (term life) policy on my mother even if she does not live with me? She asked me to do this in order to cover costs upon her passing. She is in her mid seventies. If yes, how do I go about getting it?

Assuming she is healthy enought to qualify, yes. Term life, however, may expire before she dies, and therefore is not generally used for final expense purposes… at least if you want to be sure the money will be there when she dies.
There are specific policies, called final expense plans, that are more suited to what you are looking to accomplish.
