What does a term life insurance medical exam consist of and how can I prepare for it?
When purchasing an individual term life insurance or permanent life insurance policy you’ll need to complete a medical exam. It will be done at the expense of the insurance company, at a time and place convenient for you — usually right in your home.
The exam is usually conducted by a licensed paramedic or medical doctor, and generally involves a blood test, urine specimen, blood pressure reading, height and weight measurement, sometimes an EKG, and a series of questions about your health history. The whole process takes about 20-30 minutes.
There are ways you can prepare for it. By preparing for your life insurance exam, you can help to avoid unnecessary abnormal exam results, which may adversely affect your rates. This is one important way to save yourself money. For tips on what to do to prepare for it, click here.
